5th Green Flag for St. Aiden'sSt. Aiden's raised their 5th Green Flag on Wednesday 23rd of June. A big thank you to all involved.Below is a photo of the Green School's Committee with their teacher and Green School Co-ordinator Ms. Moriarty.
Farewell to 6th Class June 2010The 6th Class Party took place on Wednesday 23rd of June. Everyone had a great time. All at St. Aiden's want to wish them in the next stage of their education.
6th class as infants with their teacher Ms. Towey. Heritage in SchoolsSix schools in County Sligo are involved in a project investigating local historical and archeological sites. St. Aiden's is one of these schools. The children of 4th, 5th and 6th classes are doing a project on St. Attracta's Well, the Local Graveyard and the Clogher Stone Fort. The schools hope to share their information in September/October on a website. Joyce Enright, Archeologist, was in the school on Monday and Friday 14th and 18th June to launch the project and give the children lots of information.
Sports DayAll enjoyed the Sports Day on Wednesday 16th June. The children took part in running, sack race, wheelbarrow race, spud and spoon race, slow bicycle race, wellie throwing and tug of war. The ice cream van arrived and was a welcome relief on such a lovely day.
Senior TourSenior tour (2nd to 6th classes) took place on Tuesday 15th June. The day started with a visit to King House in Boyle, a trip on the cruise boat 'Moonriver' in Carrick-on-Shannon, lunch in Supermacs and a visit to the Forest Park. A great day was enjoyed by all.
St. Aiden's Girls are WinnersSt Aiden's girls won the final of Cumann na mBunscol on Saturday 12th June in Markievicz Park, Sligo. The final scor was 2 goals 8 points to 6 points. Monasteraden girls led at half-time by 5 points to four. Two goals in the last five minutes by Katie Flaherty and Orla O'Dowd sealed the victory. Well done girls, everyone is proud of you.
Junior Tour 2010Junior infants, senior infants and 1st class along with their teachers Marian Nally and Ruth Towey had a great day at the TF Royal Theatre on Thursday 10th June 2010. They enjoyed the musical 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Afterwards they had a picnic in glorious sunshine and spent a fun-filled hour at the playground. See more photos in the photo gallery.
New technology at St. Aiden'sSt Aiden's N.S. has updated its computers. Now instead of desktop PCs, pupils use state of the art netbooks linked to a central server and printer
Return From HaitiRonan and Shane visited the school on their return from Haiti. They showed a DVD of their work - their group built over 70 houses. They also presented the school with a photographic display. Well Done lads on the great work. The school is very proud of both of you.
Cumann Na mBunscolMonasteraden Girls are through to the final of their division in Cumann Na mBunscol. The Final will take place on June 12th in Markievicz Park at 12 noon. Congratulations girls and best of luck in the final from all in Monasteraden. See photos in our photo gallery.
First Holy CommunionThe children of 2nd Class celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday 2nd May in Monasteraden Church. Hope everyone had a great day.

World Book DayOn Thursday 4th March the children of St. Aiden's celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as a character from their favourite book. See photos in our photo gallery. Haiti Fundraising PresentationA cheque for €2,500 was presented to Shane Flannery and Ronan Gray by the pupils and staff of St. Aiden's on Friday 12th March. Shane and Ronan are heading to Haiti under the Haven Build It Project. The best of luck to both lads from all at St. Aiden's. See Photos in Photo Gallery. Fahy School Of DancingIrish dancing classes take place every Monday from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Please contact Ethna Fahy 094 9877080/087 6661905 Football BlitzStudents from Sligo IT have organised a football blitz for the children of 3rd and 4th classes. This will take place on Thursday 29th April in Keash. Gerry Murray comes to visit.Gerry Murray, Chairperson of Sligo County Council visited the school on Thursday 11th February. He was accompanied by Madam Felicity McDermot. The book 'Landscape, Rocks and Fossils, The Geological Heritage of Co. Sligo' was presented to the school. The book is dedicated to Conor McDermot (1945 -2001), in recognition of his enduring contribution to the appreciation and understanding of Sligo's geology. Fruit and MilkFruit and milk available free from the school. Please encourage your child to partake of these. ICT GrantThe school has received a grant to upgrade the ICT (Information & Communication Technologies) equipment. This is a very welcome development, especially in the current economic climate. It will greatly assist the teachers in delivering effective and integrated learning across the curriculum. Interactive White board for the Infant RoomWith the installation of an interactive white board into the Infant room , the school now has one in every class room. This is a great achievment as we have gone from 0 to 100% in under 2 years.
