Mr. O'Gara's Retirement Party

The Community of Monasteraden and surrounding areas, family and friends gathered in great numbers in the G.P. room of St. Aiden's National School on Saturday January 28th to wish David O'Gara well in his retirement and to thank him for a committed and progressive 35 years as Principal. Tributes were paid and presentations made by Fr. Joseph Gavigan, Anne Moriarty and Carmel Lennon on behalf of the Board of Management, the staff and the community; and also by David's daughter, Geraldine, who along with her four siblings as past pupils of St. Aiden's, had the privilege of David being father and teacher. The lively music of P.J. Hernon and Kieran Donoghue accompanied much dancing. Food was catered by the local community and the 'clapper board' cake was donated by OLivia Doyle. The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We wish David a long, happy and active retirement.
